[ORG NAME]
Teaching small business owners to be found.
We believe business, at its best, isn't just about money — it's about meaning. This is where we defend that.
Why this exists
A neighborhood business closing is rarely a failure of craft. The baker still bakes. The mechanic is still honest. What's missing is almost always the same thing: nobody can find them.
Meanwhile, something quieter is happening underneath. Ownership is being absorbed — consolidated, rolled up, and stripped of the soul that made it matter. What families and neighborhoods spent generations building is being repackaged by people who were never for the neighborhood in the first place.
The tools that decide who gets found — local search, business profiles, review systems, and now the AI assistants that answer "who should I hire" before a human ever opens a browser — have become a specialist's trade. National chains employ teams for it. A three-person shop has an owner already working sixty hours.
[ORG NAME] exists to close that gap by teaching it away.
What we do
- We teach.
- Free workshops and one-on-one clinics for small business owners on local search, business profiles, review systems, and AI visibility. No sales pitch at the end. The whole point is that owners leave able to do it themselves.
- We build capacity.
- For owners who can't do it themselves — because of time, language, disability, or circumstance — we do the initial build at no cost and then train them to maintain it.
- We document.
- Vouched is our public directory: a crowd-sourced record of the businesses communities say they'd fight to keep. It's free to list, free to search, and no placement is for sale. Every customer who chooses local is casting a vote. This is where those votes are counted.
- We advocate.
- We publish research on what's actually happening to independent business in Minnesota, so the conversation runs on numbers instead of nostalgia.
What we believe
We're not anti-investment and we're not anti-growth. We're pro-founder. We believe no honest trade is beneath honor — the cook, the shopkeeper, the grocer, the tradesperson, the mechanic, the caregiver, the barber, the professional, the maker, the trainer, and the person caring for animals all carry the same spark. A business owner who chooses to stay deserves a community that chooses to notice.
Who we serve
Independent business owners operating under [$X] in annual revenue, with priority for businesses in economically distressed areas, and for owners facing barriers to accessing professional marketing services — including first-generation owners, owners for whom English is a second language, and owners in communities historically underserved by business support infrastructure.
What we don't do
We don't take money from businesses to promote them. We don't sell placement, ranking, or features. We don't accept sponsorship from any company that competes with the businesses we serve.
We build with systems, not slogans. This isn't a crusade against scale — it's a stand for the people scale keeps forgetting.
